About Us
Training Approach
EAST Centers of NY’s (EAST) training approach involves a blend of classroom lectures, PowerPoint and video presentations, equipment demonstrations, and practical hands-on activities. Following this theoretical grounding, students are presented with several life-like scenarios in which to apply skills learned during the course. These hands-on training and practice sessions are essential elements of any complete training program. The opportunity to use newly acquired skills in practical situations reinforces lecture and classroom lessons and promotes a more thorough understanding of the subject matter.
In matters dealing with worker and public health and safety, the need to ensure an in-depth understanding of the proper techniques is critical. It is for this purpose that our programs integrate hands-on sessions whenever possible, including realistic situations developed to challenge students' thinking and analytical skills. It is the experience of the course instructors that such scenarios play an important role in how well students will retain and apply lessons learned.
