Two years after selling his interest in another safety training company, Kevin Hutton felt a void. Known for being passionate about training, Kevin could not pass up an opportunity to come back. Health and Safety Resources (HSR) was looking to focus on its core service, on-site safety services. Wanting to see his training division succeed, HSR President Herb Dohr made an offer Hutton could not refuse.
EAST (Environmental, Asbestos, & Safety Training) is lead by Kevin Hutton. With more than 30 years of experience in the construction and environmental industries, his focus has been on compliance. “I’ve always believed when the regulations are truly understood, compliance is not difficult and companies can profit,” Hutton said. “…companies do not have to choose between compliance and making money.” Training is the first step in compliance.
Unquestionable dedication to keeping employees safe is obvious to class participants. Hutton’s down to earth training style and industry experience liven classes and promote learning.
Kevin has developed programs that have changed the asbestos industry in New York. He created an expedited variance process that the NYS Department of Labor recently adopted. Fast Track Variances (FTV) enable Project Designers to submit select variance requests that are approved in days rather than weeks. As Vice President of the trade organization Professional Abatement Contractors of New York (PACNY), he promoted proficiency training at their annual conference. His presentations to hundreds of PACNY members and industry experts elevated their combined knowledge and understanding of NYS, EPA, and OSHA rules.
EAST will focus on environmental and construction safety training. NYS Asbestos Certification, OSHA Construction and General Industry Outreach, EPA Certified Renovator, and NYS Mold are among the many credentials EAST will hold with the acquisition of HSR training services.
